Is buying cheap floors worth it?

Buying cheap floors can be tempting, especially if you’re trying to stick to a tight budget. However, it’s important to consider the long-term costs and benefits before making a decision.

Cheap floors may be made of low-quality materials, which can wear out quickly and need to be replaced sooner than higher-quality floors. This means that you may end up spending more money in the long run to replace the cheap flooring.

Additionally, cheap floors may not be as durable or sturdy as more expensive options, which could lead to problems with stability or safety. For example, if you choose cheap laminate, it may not hold up as well to heavy foot traffic, moisture, or other wear and tear.

In contrast, investing in a higher-quality floor may cost more upfront but could provide better value in the long run. For example, hardwood flooring or high-quality laminate may last for decades with proper care, and can even increase the value of your home.

Ultimately, the decision to buy cheap floors depends on your budget and priorities. If you’re willing to replace your floors frequently or don’t mind sacrificing quality for a lower price, then cheap floors may be a viable option. However, if you’re looking for long-term durability and value, investing in higher-quality floors may be a better choice.

We strive to provide quality floor products that our customers will enjoy for years. In order to accomplish this, we avoid selling “cheap floors”.

Is there a flooring shortage?

The pandemic led to disruptions in global supply chains, causing delays and shortages of many building materials, including flooring.

The increased demand for home renovation projects during the pandemic also put pressure on the supply of flooring materials, leading to shortages and longer lead times for delivery. In addition, some manufacturers have had to slow down production due to pandemic-related labor shortages and other challenges.

Fortunately, we have warehouses throughout Utah full of in-stock flooring, making it one of the largest flooring inventories in the state.

Where is the best place to shop for flooring in Utah?

Well… we are a little biased on this one… it’s us!

Our unbiased answer would be to do your research and keep these key things in mind when you are doing your homework:

  • Find a place that specializes in flooring, not a place that does flooring on the side.
  • Choose a place that is experienced with many years in business.
  • Do they have a good reputation? Check their customer reviews.
  • Do they warranty their work?
  • Would contacting the manager or store owner be an easy task if you needed extra help or had concerns?
  • Do they have a large selection of quality flooring to choose from?

We knock these items out of the park with our service and that’s why we feel confident in saying we are the best place to shop for flooring.

Which carpet is best?

That depends largely on the scenario and what you are wanting out of a carpet. We suggest reading our section on carpet types. It discusses the advantages of each carpet type and will help you find the best carpet type for your situation.

Will carpet make my basement warmer?

Carpet can make your basement feel warmer and more comfortable underfoot, but it’s important to understand that it is not a substitute for proper insulation or heating.

Carpet is a natural insulator, which means that it can help to retain heat in your basement and prevent cold air from seeping through the floor. This can be especially beneficial in colder climates or in basements that feel chilly or damp.

However, if your basement is not properly insulated or heated, carpet alone may not be enough to make it feel warm and comfortable. In this case, it may be necessary to install additional insulation, seal any air leaks, and consider other heating options such as radiant floor heating or a space heater.

It’s also important to note that carpet is not always the best choice for basements that are prone to moisture or flooding. In these cases, you may want to consider alternatives such as vinyl or tile flooring that are more resistant to water damage.

Why does carpet wrinkle?

Carpet can wrinkle for several reasons, including:

  1. Installation: The carpet was not stretched tight enough during the installation.

  2. Humidity: High levels of humidity can cause carpet fibers to absorb moisture and expand, which can lead to wrinkling and buckling.

  3. Age: Over time, the backing of the carpet can break down, causing it to become less flexible and more prone to wrinkling.

  4. Heavy furniture: Placing heavy furniture on top of carpet can cause pressure points that can lead to wrinkling and distortion of the carpet fibers.

  5. Traffic: High foot traffic can cause wear and tear on carpet, which can lead to wrinkles and buckling.

If you notice wrinkles in your carpet, it’s important to address the issue as soon as possible to prevent further damage.

We give a lifetime labor warranty on all our carpet installations. If your carpet wrinkles or buckles, contact us and we’ll fix it free of charge.
